This panel is used to check for electrolyte, fluid, or pH imbalances in the body. Abnormal levels can be a sign of serious health problems, including kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a life-threatening type of heart disease.

You may need this test if you have symptoms indicating that your body's electrolytes may be out of balance like nausea and vomiting, confusion and irritability, weakness or fatigue, muscles twitching and tingling, and irregular or fast heartbeat (arrhythmia).
